Achtung. We have moved!

Our address is:

Gatcombe House, Copnor Road, Hilsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO3 5EJ

After three months of planning and preparation, and having just arrived back from Berlin, the big moving day had arrived. Macs packed carefully in the Landrover, and helped by an amazing team of burly removals guys, our entire working life made it into two lorries. A fond farewell to 5 years at Port Solent and we were off –  trundling the 2 or 3 miles to the new offices at Gatcombe House, for the next stage our creative business adventure.

Gatcombe House, Hilsea

Built in 1780 it is the former residence of the Garrison Commander of Portsmouth. The building later became a Royal Navy Officer’s Mess before being given up by the military in the 1970s. It was bought by Warings Construction who were, incidentally, the guys who built the Mary Rose Museum Building, and was used as a head-office until around 2007 when a sympathetic restoration and refit began.

It really is a small world – we’ve designed for both Warings and The Mary Rose Trust in the past.

Now, apparently it was a Prussian Field Marshall who first said words to the effect that “No plan survives beyond first contact with the enemy.” We arrived at Gatcombe House to find that our three office rooms were without carpet and the fitter and his young, slight assistant were at their van and rapidly being taken to the ground and overwhelmed by an enormous roll of gel backed carpeting. Up went the sleeves and we soon had the roll delivered to the first floor ready for fitting, but the unexpected lateness of this work meant we were now at least 3/4 of a day behind.

Thankfully, we have some amazing people at Sticky ready to pitch in and solve problems, and I am fortunate to have supporting family and friends and between us the studios were put back together on Sunday ready for 9am Monday morning.

Hey thanks Phil – yes, very pleased with the move. Nice view of the marina at Port Solent, but it did need a bit of injection of character, particularly after 15 years at The Clocktower in Southsea. Gatcombe House is much like that only larger – excellent period charm with a modern twist.
